The interfaith, multicity affordable housing initiative was “inspired by the first U.S.-born pope, and his commitment to service and social justice.” 

The pope also greeted a friend from their mutual hometown in Illinois.

Day’s life of faith inspired others, said Father Anthony Andreassi, administrative vicar for the Brooklyn Oratory Parishes in Brooklyn Heights.

“I primarily come to Africa as a pastor … to be with and to celebrate with, to encourage and accompany, all of the Catholics throughout Africa.”

On the site of a former monastery, a vast community center is rising in one of the French capital’s most desirable neighborhoods.

At the opening of the mobile museum, the CEO of Catholic Charities USA said, the venture “is a testament to mercy, service, hope, compassion and faith.”

Pope Leo XIV urged the wealthy citizens of Monaco to remember the poor and protect every human life, saying the Last Judgment “places the poor at its center.”

“Healthcare must be accessible to the most vulnerable … because their dignity requires it but also to prevent injustice from becoming a cause of conflict.”
