From crisis response canines to parish mental health ministries, the faithful are seeking ways to bring mental health support to Minneapolis Catholic school shooting survivors.

Pray for the Minneapolis Catholic community as it mourns two students and determines how to move forward with the school year.

Minneapolis Catholics, neighbors and others have joined together grieving the loss of life, health and sense of security in the aftermath of a school shooting.

The archbishop said he wished he had the answers for everyone. “I don’t. But I trust, brothers and sisters, that we have a God who does have those answers.”

Archbishop Bernard A. Hebda said prayers offered around the world, including from Pope Leo XIV, have been “a source of hope” after that day’s school shooting.

A key preventative measure is having “armed security or a contract police officer active outside of the building, ready to respond.”

The pope’s condolences went particularly to “the families now grieving the loss of a child.”
