Less than an hour from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is the Basilica Cathedral of Our Lady of Altagracia.

In a telegram to Dominican Republic archbishop, the pope sent condolences to the families of the dead, “while encouraging everyone to persevere in their efforts to help and accompany others.”
